black and silver Sylvan pontoon in the water
Sylvan
G-5 DLZ
First Impression
As a new model style for this line, consumers are going to love the modern look and floorplan of the G-5 DLZ from Sylvan. With a total of three swingbacks, the versatility will appeal to everyone in your crew.
Highlights
Starting at the raised helm that includes a SeaDek mat, the console looks both stylish and sporty. Directly above the tilt steering wheel is a large 7-inch Simrad touchscreen with a vertical row of lighted push buttons on each side for a symmetrical look. Also included as part of the dash layout is a wireless phone charger compartment as well as a Yamaha digital control screen. Plus, this is also where the driver can access the JL Audio stereo controls to an amazing system that includes 10 total speakers as part of the optional Ultra Premium sound upgrade. Speaking of modern, using a wireless key fob to start the engine feels a little futuristic and left us a little embarrassed after searching for the keys.

Directly across from the high back helm chair is a swingback first-mate seat that easily converts from a bench seat to a rear-facing lounger. It’s part of the L-shaped seating area that leads towards the stern area and the other two swingbacks. The versatile design provides several different options including a wide rear-facing lounger after laying one side completely flat, or creating two facing bench seats with a dual pedestal table in between that’s ideal for playing games or having lunch. However you choose to use this space, you’ll appreciate the second cell phone wireless charging station, a 12-volt outlet, C-Zone lighting controls, as well as one of two stereo remotes. The other remote is located outside the stainless steel gates on the extended swim platform along with the ski/tow pylon and optional LilliPad Marine REVO boarding ladder.

Why we love this boat…This is where a modern look, impressive amenities, a versatile layout and high performance all come together for a complete pontoon package.
Other features worth noting are the high-end galley with sink and faucet, a pop-up changing room built into one of the two chaise lounges in the bow, an in-floor storage compartment, and a powered arch with Bimini top.
Inspection
Three 25-inch diameter pontoons with lifting strakes on all three are part of the standard SPX PR25 Performance package, but what we really like is that the tubes are all painted black to complete the high-end vibe.

Up top there are nearly 22 feet of usable deck space from inside the rails with the rail height varying from 29 inches tall in the bow to 25 inches in the stern for a nice, family-friendly design.

Just being picky…We’d like to see a few more USB ports, a locking glove box, as well as a trash can to help round out the already long list of standard features.
Performance
A Yamaha 350hp outboard plus the SPX PR25 hull equals quite a thrill ride. We comfortably reached speeds in the mid 40 mph range at full throttle after a zero-to-20 mph time of just over 5 seconds. However, it was the handling that impressed us the most. She “turns on a dime” and is especially fun to drive.
Final Thoughts
From the conservative white, gray, and black color scheme of the interior to the sporty-looking helm and versatile seating options, this Sylvan has a lot going for it. We see immense value in this model as tested that includes the upgrades and the high horsepower engine, and feel as is, this pontoon has a great balance to complement the standard features.
