First Impression
With all options and upgrades, this deck boat is competitively priced and designed to meet the needs of consumers seeking a versatile day-use vessel. Hurricane engineers remain committed to ongoing enhancements, and although the SunDeck Sport is not a new model, it has been refreshed for the 2026 model year.
Highlights
The new gel color block option accentuates the kinetic fluidity of the hull design, creating an exterior look that instantly grabs your attention. The Atlas gray furniture, accented with Panama Ice Pacific, perfectly ties in with the blue exterior gel coat.

Behind the windscreen at the helm, the dash is centered on a 5-inch Lowrance with two large multi-function GPS gauges on each side. Below are red backlighted rocker switches for improved nighttime visibility, plus a wireless phone charger on the side for the captain. The height of the circuit breakers has been lowered to improve clearance for the driver, yet they remain easily accessible at the helm.

For the captain, the backrest pivots on the helm chair to increase the versatility with a rear-facing lounge. Maximizing your space and making every square inch count is all part of Hurricane’s DNA. Directly across from the helm is a section that divides the port bench seating, featuring a sink, 12-volt outlet, and counter space. This is also where you access the Clarion Silver audio controls with the head unit on the side. Bow and stern telescoping ladders, a removable bow table, quick-release fender clips, and a wide in-floor ski locker round out the key features.

While not shown on this specific model, it’s worth noting that a limited edition “Full Darkness” option is available on the SunDeck185 and 205 models. It’s a full black deck and hull, available only for model year 2026.

Inspection
The full fiberglass stringers are the backbone of this deck boat, and the integrated system controls flex in Hurricane’s proprietary kinetic fluidity hull, providing exceptional support. The gel coat work throughout the boat – both inside and out – is beautifully executed, as is the overall construction and craftsmanship work. Inside the boat, as you step down into the cockpit, there is over 14 feet of floor space, with the bow and stern platforms accounting for the remaining 20 feet, 7 inches of the overall length.
Performance
Offered in both an outboard and sterndrive version, we achieved a top speed in the 50 mph range and a zero-to-20 mph time of just 4.8 seconds with the Yamaha 150hp engine. This proven modified V-hull provides a smooth running surface that allows us to fly across the water and dive into sharp turns for an exhilarating ride.
Final Thoughts
The optional Coastal Edition package, which includes anodes and an engine autoflush system, helps prepare this deck boat for the saltwater market. The use of stainless steel throughout, including for the Bimini frame, also ensures it will do well in certain regions. In fact, the Hurricane line of deck boats has dominated the state of Florida with sales for years, and it’s easy to see why.

Well-constructed fiberglass boats, loaded with features and still budget-friendly, are excellent for our industry, and Hurricane continues to lead the way. This SunDeck Sport 205 OB is just a glimpse of what the Indiana-based manufacturer has to offer.

Just being picky…There are plenty of comfortable seats to justify the 10-passenger rating, but we would like a designated spot for a trash receptacle and a standard ski/tow bar.
