First Take

With its fiberglass exterior and Equinox power arch, at first glimpse it’s easy to see this modern pontoon is not like other traditional pontoons. Simply put, it has its own unique vibe that draws you in. Using fiberglass instead of aluminum exterior panels allows more creativity in the aesthetics featuring a combination of sweeping lines accented by crisp futuristic angles that host integrated docking and navigation lights into the bow.

Kind Of A Big Deal

Starting at the helm, the console with a glass windshield is centered on a 7-inch Yamaha digital touchscreen that provides the captain with all the key info needed, plus controls every detail right down to selecting the color for the lighted speakers and cup holders. The Qi wireless charging pad on the console is a nice added touch and below and to the left of the tilt steering wheel is a nice display of push button switches with access to the Wet Sounds stereo on the other side. Speaking of the stereo, we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we didn’t properly test the Wet Sounds system with eight speakers and that includes the two massive 10-inch speakers on the tower. We’re happy to report the system didn’t disappoint.

The wood-free theme isn’t just for the deck, it carries over to the furniture too. While the captain’s futuristic-looking helm chair on a raised platform might be the most popular on board, there are plenty of comfortable seats for everyone with recessed cup holders along the bench seats with an impressive amount of USB A & C charging ports found throughout. Other features and added touches include an aft bumper storage compartment, billet bow and stern gates, deep in-floor ski locker, a tall ski/tow bar and an easy-to-use boarding ladder.

Closer Look

No wood, no rot is Veranda’s philosophy when it comes to its decks and the reason why its boats are constructed a little differently. The foundation of each and every Veranda luxury pontoon is its innovative, patented, all-aluminum, all-welded interlocking deck system. The aluminum planks are extruded, creating hollow chambers inside. These chambers reduce weight and allow for aeration of the deck surface, keeping it up to 15 degrees cooler than standard wood floors during the hot summer months. Each 2 by 6 plank is engineered to interlock together. After the planks are interlocked, they are welded directly to M-brackets that run the full length of each 0.125-gauge, 27-inch diameter pontoon. This uni-body construction void of cross-members creates a solid foundation that eliminates flex and noise.

Performance

With the V One you only need one outboard when it’s the Yamaha 425hp XTO Offshore four-stroke. We recorded a zero-to-20-mile per hour time of just over four seconds on our way to a top speed of 53 mph at full throttle. She dives nicely in the sharp turns and is quite nimble as well as responsive, earning this model a high fun-factor rating.

Final Thoughts

After a full inspection we feel this is a well-executed floor plan with key features such as an amazing sound system, helm touchscreen and creature comforts for today’s boater. There are seriously more cup holders than the passenger rating and we’ve never seen a pontoon with so many different USB locations to plug in. Truly impressive.
