Viaggio

Lago X24S

First Impression

The Lago Series is a popular value-driven line, and for 2024, Viaggio has divided it into three different lines within the series. The Lago X is in the middle between its V and its Z as a large volume model. These models are all priced well and over-built, like all of the other pontoons this Indiana-based manufacturer offers.
Highlights
Typically with a price point line you don’t have the option to customize it to your individual tastes, but the Lago X line has 11 overall exterior colors to choose from as well as five different stripe colors. We have to admit, we like the look of the green exterior with the white stripe, because it stands out beautifully on the water.

Inside the boat there are two chaise lounges in the bow, identical dual helm chairs, and a versatile seating area in the stern that easily converts from a bench seat to a large rear-facing lounger. The look of the two-toned tan and gray vinyl with a white stripe is repeated throughout. We also absolutely love the stainless steel rail and gate that transition nicely to the swim deck.

Why we love this boat….
The jump from previous Lago models is extremely noticeable with the fresh update that as-tested is ready for a fun day out on the water.
For the captain, the Gussi Italia Molinara steering wheel is centered on the Simrad touchscreen mounted into the dash, with easy access to the Clarion Sound system on the left and USB and USB-C combo charging port near a cubby to the right. The back-lit toggle switches complete the aviation vibe, helping to give the dash a fresh and modern look.

The test boat included an optional diving board from LilliPad Marine that easily stows away in the optional in-floor ski locker when not in use. Another nice storage feature is the table holder behind the helm seat, which makes it more likely to be used since it’s not hidden under a seat.

Worth noting, this model has 11 total cupholders, yet none are located in the bow. That’s just us being picky, and we’d also like to see some type of a locking glove box for your loose items. Otherwise, this boat as-tested has a tremendous amount to offer.

Closer Look
Three 27-inch diameter pontoons are the base of this model, with lifting strakes on both sides of the center tube and strakes on the insides of the outside ones. Up top the rail height varies from nearly 26 inches tall in the stern to nearly 28 inches tall in the bow, for an extremely safe and family-friendly design. Overall this Viaggio earned high marks for its construction quality and excellent design.
Just being picky…
Having 11 cupholders on board is an impressive number, but if we’re being picky we’d like to see some permanent places for drinks in the bow.
Throttle Down
Another unique feature on this price point model is the horsepower rating. This Lago X was powered by a Mercury 300 Verado that reached top speeds in the mid 40s with a blistering zero-to-20 mph time of just 3.4 seconds. She handles well and is a fun boat to drive because of the responsiveness.
Why Buy
Proving you don’t have to spend big to get a high-quality pontoon, the Lago X24S has a lot going for it beyond its unique color scheme. The thoughtful layout with a long list of standard features takes considerable guesswork out of what you really need (and don’t need) when selecting the right model for your needs.
