Our PDB Tested section is compiled of pontoon and deck boats, new products, gear, tools, aftermarket accessories and more. Simply put, if it can be tested and it applies to our favorite type of boating, you’ll find it in this section. And the one thing each review has in common is they were all tested and evaluated by one or more of our qualified PDB staff members.
What if I told you there was a pontoon boat in the industry with no cross members, no stringers, no rivets, and no bolts or screws holding the deck system together? Would you be intrigued? Just imagine having a solid aluminum floor with no components that could rattle or come loose, while the design eliminated the need of some type of an underskin decking since the flooring is as flat on the bottom as it is on the top.

While this type of flooring system may seem too futuristic to believe, it’s actually available today and has been since 2005. Considering how unique it is, you might find it a little surprising it’s not more recognized in the pontoon industry as being truly innovative.

Veranda Luxury Pontoons is the innovator of the patented all-aluminum interlocking deck system welded together with full-length M brackets that is truly unique with countless advantages.

As impressive as this flooring is, the real excitement coming from the Arkansas-based manufacturer this year is the release of its all-new V One 25 Twin that is being added to its already-stunning series of V One performance pontoons. The V One Twin is exclusively powered by twin Yamaha outboards, a pairing that has been very successful for this pontoon manufacturer.

“The V One’s revolutionary design boasts beautiful sleek lines, exceptional performance, best-in-class upholstery, no wood, and its no-rot guarantee deck is no doubt our harbinger into this dual engine category,” said Veranda President Rory A. Herndon.

Veranda is a family owned and operated company built on the premise of innovation featuring its patented all-aluminum interlocking deck system. Veranda is the sister company to Xpress Boats, a 56-year-old manufacturer of the “original” all-welded aluminum fishing and hunting boats.

First Glimpse
Earlier this spring the PDB magazine crew got the chance to get behind the helm of this brand-new V One 25 Twin for a little sneak peek while attending the Miami International Boat Show at its new location. When the show was being held on Virginia Key in past years, taking boats out on the water for a cruise was a lot more convenient. However, despite the more challenging location for test rides, when we heard Veranda was debuting its latest model and it was on the water, we made the extra effort to get it out for a test run.

The first thing we noted when we saw the V One 25 Twin with F300 Offshore four-strokes was the fiberglass exterior and styling that was turning plenty of heads at the Miami Show. The billet aluminum gates located both bow and aft are a nice added touch to the overall design that combines artistic and functional features to the pontoon. We also love the look of the matte black powder-coated Equinox Power Arch Tower with integrated Bimini that easily retracts for storage with just a push of a button.

“This is where modern luxury meets performance,” said Gary Brown, Veranda’s national sales manager, as he welcomed us on board at the show. “The sleek aerodynamic fiberglass body features custom metallic paints with style lines that resemble a futuristic high-end performance car.”

Welcome Aboard
As we made our way inside the boat it was clear the interior is just as impressive and as luxurious as its exterior. From the geometrically patterned vinyl upholstery to the sporty helm console behind the dual windshields, nothing is an afterthought on this new model.

We absolutely love the state-of-the-art Wet Sounds WSMC1 four-zone audio black box audio system that includes 6, 8-inch interior speakers, a 12-inch Revo Passive Radiator subwoofer, two rear-facing 8-inch speakers with swim deck controls and 2, 10-inch cam-style black tower speakers. If you don’t like what you’re hearing on this boat it’s clearly not the system’s fault and has more to do with your song selection.

From the overall construction to the lighting and navigational features, the V One Twin spoils both the captain and passengers alike. For the captain specifically, the 500 series helm chair from Lippert with an integrated bolster, as well as the RGB back lighting with color switching throughout the boat, will keep your driver happy. Speaking of lighting, we counted nearly 20 RGB lighted cupholders on board, which is more than two per person based on the maximum capacity rating. One other highlight worth noting is the deep, in-floor ski locker built into the center tube that is 80 inches long inside to help store those water toys when you’re not using them.

Yamaha
At the helm the digital in-dash Yamaha CL7 display anchors the console with a lot of key information at your fingertips. Just right of the touchscreen is a place to store and charge your phone with push-button switches and stereo controls directly below. Yamaha’s electric power steering system comes standard with either the Yamaha V6 or V8 outboards, but the highlight might just be the optional Helm Master EX. Yamaha’s Helm Master EX throttle and shifting joystick system includes DriftPoint, FishPoint, TrackPoint as well as Course Hold, Heading Hold and Pattern Steer. It’s the latest from Yamaha that gives you full control of the dual outboards.
Below Deck
Each of the three pontoons are made from .125 gauge aluminum and the patented all-welded interlocking deck system is the foundation of this pontoon and the unique flooring is include on all Veranda models across its impressive lineup.

One thing Gary was quick to point out was how cool the temperature of the aluminum deck stays.

“We have ventilation through our plank system that allows for natural cooling of our flooring,” explained the national sales manager. “The natural airflow allows the flooring to cool and it’s second to none.”

Final Thoughts
After opening it up on the Atlantic Ocean within view of the Miami skyline, we were extremely impressed at how well the twin engine Veranda ran. She handled the rough water well and did it all in comfort and style. We were already fans of the V One series, but must admit the new twin setup truly increases the fun, not to mention the style points. Keep an eye out for the all-new V One Twin from Veranda.
