PDB Tested #405
The Best Introduction to Barletta
Testing out the entry-level Aria 22QC
By rebecca blackson
PDB magazine is always thrilled to have a chance to review the latest Barletta models, and we found so much to love on our recent test of the Aria 22QC. From the ultra-soft touch vinyl to the Doggie Dock View doors and power Bimini, the Aria is packed with great amenities.

Built to the same quality and performance standards as the high-end models offered by the Indiana-based manufacturer, the Aria is a price-conscious boat for families looking to get into boating on a budget that still lets them experience luxury.

Regional Sales Manager Chris Stockbridge said, “I like to say the Aria has ‘the versatility of affordability.’  With the Aria you have all the great floor plans Barletta offers, whether you like to tube, fish or just cruise around the lake in comfort. It has all the great Barletta qualities and standards at a great price.”

Spacious Layout
If your crew demands plenty of seating, the quad-lounge layout is perfect. With a chaise lounge in each corner, everyone on board can spread out on the ultra-comfy lounges and enjoy the ride. We liked how the furniture wrapped around the perimeter of the boat, keeping a large open area in the middle. This would be especially helpful for families with young children and pets.

Our test model also included the ultra-comfortable co-captain’s chair, and all seating was covered in the soft-touch vinyl that’s one of Barletta’s signature features. Sporting a highly contrasting two-tone vinyl in Tempest Gray, the furniture was perfect for relaxing. The recessed cupholders and speakers in the bow chaise lounges added a sense of high-end style, a convenient place for your phone and sunglasses. It was much better than having removable cupholders taking up space along the furniture.

Boarding is easy with three gates located at the bow, stern, and port side. Each had full-length hinges and hinge protection, which are not only family-friendly for small fingers but also not typically found on an entry-level model.

Welcoming For Pets
Pet-friendly features are found on every Barletta boat, and this one was no exception. The Doggy Dock View gates at the bow and port side gates not only let your furry friends gaze at the scenery, but they also make the captain’s job a cinch when pulling up to the dock. We loved the pet dishes built into the chaise lounge that is directly across from the helm that are quickly accessible and easily stowed out of the way when not needed.
At The Helm
The fiberglass helm console was streamlined but well-equipped with storage, including a glove box for your wallet. All the essentials are at your fingertips, including digital switches, dimmable gauges, a Lowrance Hook 4 GPS Plotter/Fishfinder, and integrated cell phone storage with AUX. We love the Yeti-Ready stainless steel cupholders and USB charging ports (four are found throughout the boat). The JBL marine stereo with four speakers is ready to play your favorite tunes, and the high-back helm seat features fold-down armrests and slides, swivels, and reclines.

Performance
While the Aria doesn’t have as many standards as the next level Cabrio line, it’s still constructed with the strength the Cabrio is known for. The hybrid chassis with I-beams, aluminum-gauge and internally reinforced nosecones and VIP Technology offers a rattle-free ride that is unheard of at this price point. Of course, it all comes with a lifetime structural warranty.

Outfitted with a Mercury 150hp outboard, our test model accelerated from 0 to 20 mph in just over 5 seconds, and we easily reached a top speed in the mid-30s. Though the U-Flex EZ steer mechanical steering wasn’t quite as effortless as electric steering, the boat still handled beautifully and banked nicely in the turns. Our tested Aria was quick out of the hole and fun to drive.

Set Up For Water Sports
The Aria is prepped and ready for fun water sports adventures with a stainless steel ski/tow cage, perfect for pulling tubes. The stainless steel telescoping ladder had four convenient steps with handrails for safety, so that you can climb aboard easily after a swim. We found plenty of room to move about on the full-beam width swim deck, and we appreciated the flip-up cleats, which can fold conveniently out of the way when not needed, so no one stubs their toes. The power Bimini is always a highly desired feature, as it allows you to deploy shade effortlessly whenever needed.
Streamlined Design
The sleek, modern look of the Aria stands out beautifully on the water. Our test boat featured the exterior Gray Moonstone color with black diamond accents and the striking railskin blackout package. Coordinating furniture was in Tempest Gray with Amore Gray flooring.

While the Aria is limited to a single-panel exterior color, there are extensive choices available, including the same full range of options as the Cabrio. You can choose from Bohemian Blue, Winter White, Red Garnet, Macau Red, and other attractive exterior colors. Accents are offered in the same color ranges.

The popularity of the Aria is easy to see. Chris added, “The Aria continues to grow and be among our best-selling boat models. The sleek design and layout give it the high-end luxury look at a great price that everyone can enjoy.”

Equipped with comfort, performance, and plenty of standards, the Aria is a beautiful introduction to the Barletta family and a great way to get out on the water.
