However, if the boat spends time unattended at a marina – and especially when it’s in storage regardless of the time of year, I do worry about it getting swiped. I take extra precautions to keep it safe, but I’ve never considered investing in some type of a tracking system in case it was stolen over the fear of long-term contracts or prices I couldn’t justify.
For those vessels without GPS trackers built in, the Invoxia GPS tracker appears to be a favorable solution to help locate your property if the worst does happen. It’s discreet and can hide just about anywhere on board and the Invoxia GPS tracker can be set to begin alerting you if your vessel is moved from its set location. In addition, it will continue to alert you every 30 seconds or so, enabling you to track its location.
Invoxia has options, but for this review I went with the Cellular GPS Tracker that includes a one-year subscription for $129. There are plenty of dry places to hide it on board my pontoon, but just to be safe I added the waterproof pouch for $14.99.
I didn’t need my boat stolen to review this tracker, as there are plenty of ways to test it. I think I’m going to like it long-term. For the peace of mind it offers, I can see plenty of added value here in knowing if my boat is ever taken I have a way of tracking it so I can get it back.
