The Ultimate Vacation
As you know, federal law stipulates that each summer every American family must drive at least 14 hours in a minivan with no air conditioning to visit Mount Rushmore, just so children can estimate how many canoes they could stuff up Teddy Roosevelt’s nostrils. Fortunately as boaters, this law doesn’t apply to us. Why? Because owning a pontoon or deck boat tops any family vacation, including a trip to Rushmore. It really is the best way to spend our hard-earned time away from work.

As we head into August, it’s natural for boaters to be concerned that the season is quickly coming to an end. The kids are heading back to school, and all your planned summer trips have somehow come and gone. While August and September can be two of the greatest boating months of the year, we all know that Old Man Winter is lurking on the horizon. But there is one thing that can make me actually look forward to the end of summer, and that’s football season!

Something for the whole family

One of the best parts of boating is beaching at the sandbar to hang out and shoot the breeze. But you’ve got to keep the kids entertained somehow—and let’s be honest, some of the adults as well. So other than eating and splashing around in the lake, what else can you do if your favorite beach doesn’t happen to have a rope swing?

There’s actually quite a bit you can do to keep your crew laughing and having fun. What’s more, most of the fun and games you can play won’t break the bank. So let’s see what fun we can have off the boat at the beach!

Why Electric Pontoons Are Becoming So Desirable
By Brady L. Kay
Electric boats are rapidly gaining popularity, and for good reasons. As concerns about the environment, sustainability, and energy efficiency grow, electric boats offer a compelling alternative to traditional gasoline- or diesel-powered vessels. But what makes them truly desirable? The biggest reason might just be the environmental friendliness. Electric boats produce zero emissions while operating, which greatly reduces water and air pollution. Unlike conventional boats, they don’t leak oil or fuel into the water, helping preserve marine ecosystems. This makes them an excellent choice for environmentally-conscious boaters and for use in protected or sensitive waterways.

Another reason for the gain in popularity is the quiet and smooth operation. Electric motors are much quieter than internal combustion engines. This quieter operation creates a more peaceful experience on the water, ideal for nature lovers, fishing, and wildlife observation. It also means less noise pollution for those living near bodies of water.

Popular Electric Pontoon Models
Curious what electric models are being offered these days by the top pontoon manufacturers? Here is a peek at some electric-powered models that are a great choice for those who are ready to enjoy smooth electric power and the quiet efficiency of renewable energy. Offering the same comfort and standard features as their gas-powered counterparts, they make getting out on the water effortless and enjoyable.

Just Try It!
Don’t miss these watersports this summer
By Nicole Ritchens
I floated in the chilly water, my lifejacket inching up around my neck while I tried to visualize an invisible chair tipping back for me to sit in. It’s harder than it looks.

“Ready?” the guy behind the wheel of the boat called.

I gave an enthusiastic thumbs-up.

He hit the throttle, the line I clung to went taut, and all of a sudden I was face-down in the water like I was trying to snorkel instead.

First time wakeboarding?

Enthusiastic thumbs-down.

Going Green On The Water
Eco-friendly boating
Illustration of a woman wearing a life jacket and standing in a small boat
As a boater, I love nature. I love the view of the setting sun from the water, seeing a perfect V of flying geese soaring across the sky, and ripples of clean water splashing out from my son’s perfect cannonball into the lake.

And while every boater I know would agree that pristine lakes are the best kind, these people also tend to let gallons of old motor oil pile up in their garage and proclaim that anything dropped overboard—from potato chips to a windblown paper plate—is “with the fishes now.”
