Buy Your Last Boat First!

Buy your last boat first! It’s kind of catchy, right? I know in some cases it’s not quite as simple as that, but in reality you have to admit it does make a little bit of sense to at least consider buying the boat you want—and will eventually need—from the start.

Gradual steps are okay…for 5-year-olds and bicycles, but a lot of people could save some sanity, as well as money, by being a little smarter in their approach to buying a new pontoon or deck boat this year.

As we turn the corner and dive into 2023, there might not be a better time to hit the boat shows. With supply chain issues and the cost of materials on the rise, you should be looking at buying a boat that will fit your needs for several years down the road and not just for this upcoming summer. For some, the plan to buy a new boat every couple of years still works. However, those working with a tighter budget may want to look ahead a little.

Trends for boating in 2023
High-waisted jeans, the keto diet, electric cars… we’re surrounded by various trends in popular culture, and the boating industry is no different, revealing its own unique trends every year.

So what’s trending for boating in 2023? Well, we reached out to industry leadership and here’s what they had to say.

Customization

For 2023, industry leaders are noticing a preference for customization among their buyers. “Customers are looking for their pontoon boat to be an expression and extension of their personality,” described Chris Bernauer, the president of Harris Pontoons. “The ability to customize and personalize through color, texture, features and technology to suit their individual needs is a market trend that Harris Pontoons is meeting head on.”

Tips for a successful boat show season
By Heather Magda Serrano
It’s that season again… boat show season! Or should I say boat buying season? Either way, you’re sure to be in for a good time. With that being said, you’re going to want to strategize and plan accordingly to get the most out of these events.

Here are some winning tips.

Boat Show Goals

Before you hit the show, first know what you want to do there. Are you looking to actually buy a new boat or are you looking for cool new accessories such as emergency equipment, fenders or tenders? Perhaps you’re simply planning on having a fun weekend with your family while browsing around to see what’s new. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that.

Benefits of
extended
boat
warranties

Buying a boat can be a difficult task no matter the kind you’re looking for. From deciding on size to cost it can be challenging to pin down the perfect option. In addition, while it’s already difficult to find preferred features for your boat, there is the other task of simply making sure your boat will actually last for a good amount of time. This can be secured through the use of extended warranties, but not everyone chooses to buy them. Many have learned the hard way that buying an extended warranty can actually help you avoid a lot of headaches with your new boat. To help keep your new boat intact we’ll be diving into how extended warranties can be an important addition to your boat purchase.

Prioritize The Price

No one enjoys paying more money than they have to, and they especially don’t want to waste money on something that won’t help them in the long run. A lot of extended warranties are indeed a bit expensive, but others can be found at a lower cost. Depending on the extended warranty, it may be able to cover the cost of something that could be much more expensive than what you paid for the extension. Instead of paying thousands of dollars to the repair company, you would instead be paying a smaller amount for greater coverage of your boat. Plan now to get an extended warranty that doesn’t make you pay out more than you need to.
